History of World Tourism Day
World Tourism Day was established by General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization in Torremolinos, Spain in 1979 with the purpose of development of international tourism. For more than 30 years representatives of tourism industry and tourists from different countries of the world have celebrated this day, organizing meetings, festivals, actions and otherwise promoting their sector of tourism.
